This year we had a soft launch with a few retreats, and much like how I enjoy slowly winding down the season with our Artist Residency, it’s been great to slowly reopen this year, too.
This also meant I had to get into gear a little earlier than usual, touching up our weathered signs—
Swapping in some new art in the rooms—

Stocking up the bar fridges—
Setting up a new table in the barn library with books written and/or illustrated by Artist Residents—
And honestly 5,417 other things that are waaaaay less exciting and/or photogenic but absolutely required when reopening hahah so instead here’s a picture of me after 5,341 of those things were finally finished:
All of which means, I’m ready to see you in just two weeks!
We’ve still got a few rooms available this summer, including our reopening weekend:
5/23-26 (3 night min for Memorial Day Weekend)
6/19-6/22 (2 night min, Juneteenth Thursday available too!)
Plus at least one room for every weekend in September and October.
And yes, you bet, the bar is absolutely still open to all every Friday and Saturday 5-8pm plus Sundays on long weekends so come say hi!
See you soon?

P.S. I just want to give a shout out to a few Artist Residents and the super cool things they’re getting up to recently:
Susannah Cahalan just published ACID QUEEN: THE PSYCHEDELIC LIFE AND COUNTERCULTURE REBELLION OF ROSEMARY WOODRUFF LEARY and it’s so rad and I cannot wait to see her read at Rough Draft in Kingston tomorrow.
Matt Huynh just published this beautiful and completely haunting comic.
Tatyana Fazlalizadeh hosted a 5 year retrospective event for her excellent book STOP TELLING WOMEN TO SMILE and is hosting her first artist-in-residence at her own upstate spot!
Agent and author Kate McKeen’s incredibly helpful insider’s how-to comes out next month, so pre-order away!
Zachariah OHora's Carl The Collector show launched on PBS and it is so fun and cool annnnnd puts neurodivergent kiddos in the storytelling spotlight in a really wonderful way.
Charlee Dyroff and Alexandra Tanner’s hilarious novels are both launching in paperback.
Erin Dorney published this beautiful books of poems.
Ariel Aberg-Riger has been collaborating with the Kronos Quartet for some performances.
And Meg Day was a Poet in Residence at the Guggenheim and had an incredible video show with other deaf poets who created poems in response to specific pieces in the museum.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg, folks! We’ve hosted 120 truly fascinating people these past eleven seasons and it brings me SUCH JOY to experience their art.
