Our business is about 80% repeat guests these days. Most of you have stayed two or three times. Some of you have stayed ten, eleven… eighteen times!! And while everyone has their own favorite way to do their Spruceton Inn stay, I’m going to share what our most repeat-of-repeat guests recommend:
Don’t leave the valley.
I know, there’s not a whole lot going on here in Spruceton Valley! Actually, that’s the point! And with just a little planning ahead, you too can arrive Friday night, park your car, and not even look at it again until you head home Sunday afternoon.
A very basic Don’t-Leave-The-Valley itinerary might go as follows:

Stop for an early dinner on your way here in Kingston or Woodstock somewhere yummy like Eliza or Sylvia, and grab a few supplies from a farm stand like Migliorelli. Check in at Room One before 8pm and have a drink (or three!) with our Friday night regulars aka a bunch of hilarious and lovely Spruceton Road locals who kick off the weekend with me every Friday at 5pm. (Love you guys!) Roast up some s’mores on the bonfire I’ve got going outside the bar for desert and tuck it in for a well earned sleep.

Saturday morning, have coffee and Pop-Tarts in bed. Watch the birds flit through the meadow. Eventually, put on some shoes and take a 25 minute stroll down the road to the Diamond Notch Falls trailhead and get your forest on. Take a dip if you’re feeling brave! On the way home, hit up West Kill Brewing for a totally well-earned beer and some food-truck lunch, catch a little live music (and almost certainly run into a local you met in Room One night before!).

Stroll back to the Inn and take a nap in the hammock or grab a book from the barn, toss some chairs down into the creek and read with your toes in the water. When the bar opens at 5pm, get some burger supplies and maybe another s’mores pack and get a fire going down by the pond or creek or an apple tree. Stay up until the Milky Way comes out. Go to bed “late” and realize only once you get back into your room that it’s only 9:30pm but you’re happily wiped so whatever.

Then sleep in. As late as you’d like! We say check out is at noon but between you and me it’s a total lie, so hang around until the evening if you want. Lounge, linger. Go for another walk, this time heading left out of the parking lot and up Rusk Mountain Road for a view of the valley. Eat your leftovers for lunch, or hit up West Kill next door again.
Eventually, around 5pm, once the traffic on the highways has thinned, toss your clothes back in your bag, pick a few wild flowers from our meadow to keep in your cupholder, and head home relaxed and refreshed.
Sound like a plan?
There’s just 4 weekends left of summer! We’ve got rooms for you:
Aug 9th-11th. (No 2 night minimum, so come up just Saturday if you’d like!)
Aug 30th-Sept 2nd aka Labor Day
Speaking of the clock tick-tock-ing…
We’ve already received hundreds of applications for the Artist Residency (!!), but I figured I’d give another shout about it for those of you who are still considering so here goes: there’s just 1 week left to apply for this no-cost 5 night residency at the Inn!
See ya soon?
