Above is just a little peak at some of their work that’s already out in the world. They’re novelists, illustrators, screenplay writers, animators, photographers, kids book writers, podcast creators, memoirists, journalists and more, and reading their applications I got so, SO excited about all the many things they want to get up to when they’re here this November!
I’m also thrilled to announce the recipient of this year’s Tracy Kennard Emerging Writer’s Award: Delight Ejiaka!
Thank you so much to Jamie Kennard for sponsoring this opportunity in Tracy’s memory. It’s such a beautiful thing.
This year it was harder than ever to choose the Residents. Steven and I read OVER 500 APPLICATIONS…!
Yes, you read that right. 500!
Our long list of finalists was sooooo long. We spent days on days on days reading and discussing. You all are up to such fascinating, gorgeous, truly important work. THANK YOU SO MUCH to each of you who took the time to apply. You have humbled and inspired us. Keep creating! Keep putting yourself out there! And you know what? Keep applying to this Residency if you think it could be a good fit, because over the years we’ve definitely chosen some folks who have applied multiple times. (This year included!)
So, congrats to our 2024 Artist Residents! We cannot wait to host you this November.
Another art-focused announcement for you all:
Saturday October 5th from 2-5pm we’re hosting the Catskill Mountain Shakespeare Fall Benefit in our barn!
There’ll be drinks and snacks of course, plus mini performances from past cast members, and a silent auction with super fun things to win like tix to the New York City Ballet, meals and stays from Foxfire Mountain House and The Emerson, a giant Kaaterskill Falls print our very own Steven Weinberg, and more!
All money raised will go toward their 2025 season which includes lots of no-cost workshops and programming for local schools.
We have ONE ROOM left that weekend, so if you’re not a local, come on up and make a weekend of it! It should be almost peak leaf peepin’ time then.
We’re sold out the rest of October except for a few rooms left our last weekend of the season: October 25th-27th.
See ya up here for some fun soon?
So exciting!!
