Earlier this month we hosted PAGEBREAK, a read-an-entire-novel-together-mostly-aloud-over-a-weekend-while-getting-thematically-wined-and-dined retreat and guys, I’M IN LOVE.
Like, I want to do this every weekend?? (I say and surprise literally no one given all my #sprucetoninnreads and the fact that I love novels so much I’ve written one.)
The novel on deck was THE COIN by Yasmin Zaher (which The NY Times has a glorious review of here) and it made for hours of fascinating discussion in between reading time, not to mention really delicious meals whipped up over the grills by Hera and paired with wines by Fiasco!.
I was lucky enough to get to take part in Saturday night’s dinner as a plain-old attendee, taking off my Innkeeper hat for a few hours to get down and oh man, was that yummy and fun.
I even got to hang when the author herself came with her editor for brunch and a convo Sunday morning! There’s something so freaking special about hearing a writer discuss their work with a roomful of people who’ve read it so closely.
Hats off to Mikey at PAGEBREAK for conjuring up such lovely magic, to Christian of Natura Collective for snapping such great pics, and of course to Yasmin for writing such an epic book!
PAGEBREAK hosts these retreats about every six weeks, so check out what else they’re got on their To Read list. Wanna just do it here? You better believe Mikey and I are already picking out a 2025 date!
We’ve got a different kind of group coming this weekend— a wedding!— so we are sold out and our bar is closed to the public. BUT:
We’ve got at least one room for you every weekend in August!
AND! Applications open next week for our Artist Residency program! Check out deets on our website. We’ll send out a reminder next week once they’re officially open.
See ya soon?
